This week… Backlighting!
The use of lighting the back of your subjects hair with the sun can yield amazing result! This is something I try to pay attention to at every shoot!

I never imagined that I would actually have the first and last photos ever taken of Peter and I. But I do.
The first photo was taken on one of our very first “dates.” It’s a self-timer photo! Thank you God for camera’s with a self timer!! By the way we were dressed, obviously our date was VERY casual! It was really more like “hanging out.”
One of my favorite memories ever with Peter happened on this night! He turned on Bruce Springsteen’s “Drive all Night,” cranked it up, and we slow danced in his apartment for the first time – lights out, with the moonlight seeping in through the venetian blinds.
I’d never heard this song before… but it rocked my world! It was the most romantic dance of my life! EVER!
We didn’t even kiss that night… if you can believe it! We hadn’t even had our first kiss yet. That came later!
The last photo was taken 3 weeks before my husband of almost 19 years… went home.
In all honestly, I cropped out the kids that were in the background. I guess i wanted to indulge a little and make my own Valentine! This is it!

“Light makes photography. Embrace it. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.” – George Eastman
My primary job is to see and capture light! Beautiful light! It is the art of photography and something that truly intrigues me! In the first workshop I ever attended, the instructor said something that really impacted me. She saud, “You have to learn the Language of Light – let it teach you and speak to you”
So, I decided to take a workshop about light! And so far..I’m thrilled
Simple, yet dramatic window light! I have always loved it. Now I’m trying to capture it beautifully!
In the first image I was looking for dramatic contrast. Blown out background and high contrast!
In the 2nd image, I was looking for shadows, catchlights, and light on only part of the face!
ooooooh so pretty!!! LOVE it!
Gorgeous.
Great eyes.
She is absolutely GORGEOUS Patty, as are you, and your photography!
Pictures take my breath away, as does your strength. Your always in my prayers, I love you Debbie
