OK… I gotta tell you – I HATE having my picture taken! Just plain don’t like it! There is too much truth of what I see in the photos. But I know that it’s actually GOOD for me. It keeps me in a place of knowing how my clients feel!
So – for my birthday yesterday – I had Colin take a few shots. This was pretty much the only one I liked! That I would be willing to put out there.
Also – major disclaimer…. This image HAS been photo shopped! You BET baby!! Just gettin’ it out in the open! Being real!
I edit all images… ESPECIALLY if the photo is of me!
I’m actually going to get some much-needed head shots done soon — Oh Lord! But I do need them for professional purposes! My friend insisted I get them done!! I am the one on facebook that has the same profile picture for months and months AND months!
Anyway, I had a wonderful birthday! Mostly sweet – some bitter, bit I was blessed so much by my kids and family and amazing friends who made me feel so special and loved! I thought of Peter the entire day… and he came in up in each conversation I had throughout the day! He is with me in my heart – and in so much of my daily life! His imprint is permanent! And that I am thankful for!
So here we go.

I have been reading an Amazing book about photography called ” Visual Poetry’ by Chris Orwig.
It is a true keeper!
I have filled my little black book – ok I have a little black book!
But THIS little black book – and it’s literally black… is my photography journal! It’s where I put everything related to photography that I learn all in one place. Quotes, thoughts, excerpts from things I read that will hopefully assimilate into my own life and help me to become the best photographer I can be! There are wonderful jewels in it that I read and re-read to keep me pushing and striving for excellence in this amazing photographic journey that I am on..
So ANYWAY – ( great rabbit trail right?)
Visual Poetry has already filled at least 3 pages in my journal! And I have been so inspired!
It’s filled with so much more than just technical instruction, post production processing and photographic knowledge. It is filled with heart and soul… with artistic wisdom that challenges you and fuels your quest for artistic expression through photography!

It capture and helps you discover the heartbeat of what we do as photogs! The veins! I’ll be sharing some of these jewels with you over the next few days…..
