Announcing my 2011 Holiday Mini Session Schedule!
This Christmas season, my shooting days are a bit limited for me. I’m out of town a little more often this season and I have quite a few other events on my plate that cut into some shooting dates and times.
So… if you would like family portraits for the holidays – this is a GREAT way to get on the books a.s.a.p.
I do have dates for traditional sessions available as well – but just contact me early for bookings, as they are limited!
All sessions are booked on a first come first serve basis and require a $100 deposit to hold your session date and time. Mini Sessions are perfect for families who would like holiday portraits taken without the larger investment of a regular family session. It is a combination of family portraits with some candid images. There is a limit of 6 people per family.

I love this girl!! Meet Desert Vista High School Senior Hanna Lee Sturdivant!
I can’t tell you how much fun it was to photograph Hanna! We had an amazing shoot! Hanna is the type of girl that is just so much fun to be around and she was a such a gamer to try anything!
Her vibrant personality made our shoot feel like an adventure! It actually felt a little like a fashion shoot! Admittedly, Hanna says that something she has too much of is clothes! Well – I was thrilled with that! I LOVED every outfit she chose. She definitely has a great sense of fashion and style and it showed!
In fact – this Fall Hanna is going to attend the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. That doesn’t surprise me a bit! She is certainly creative and… as she describes herself, smiley and fun!
You can tell that from her shoot! Although, I did have her “NOT SMILE” for quite a few poses. It wasn’t easy for her, but she pulled it off!
Hanna friends would describe her as Sassy and Loyal – Wild and fun! All words that really do come across in some of the photos from our shoot.
When asked what Hanna will miss most about High School – she answered, Cross Country! I was so glad to see that she brought her cross country uniform! We got some fun shots:
I kinda sorta loved the back of the uniform too! Check it out:
Hanna also mentioned that she really admires her cross country coach Doug Christectis because he is the most positive person she has ever met! I love that!! Honestly, I know Hanna a bit and I rarely ever see her without a smile on her face! She radiates positive energy and truly draw others to her.
She’s funny too! She does admit that she happens to snort when she laughs… and she does have an amazing smile!
Her hobbies and interests are Singing, Dance, Piano, cross country and art! She’s pretty darn “cool” too if you ask me! We had tons of fun with these next few shots!!
And some fun on the train tracks too:
Hanna LOVE making chocolate chip cookies with her grandma and something she can’t live without… Her Teddy Bear!!!
Hanna’s pesonal life motto is
“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it” I can see that she reacts WELL to life! She loves life! And I know Life loves Hanna!
Hanna also danced for years and years! So we got a few photos with her ballet shoes.. I love these!
Hanna – You are AMAZING! I could have posted LOTS more photos… thank you for choosing me to do your senior photos! I am so completely honored! Much Much Love!!!

Part of the amazing privilege I have as a photographer – is to pay attention.
To SEE things.
To notice.
I have had to train myself to take in the details and to not only see the entire scene – but to look within the frame at all of the others details… all of the other possibilities. The picture inside a picture. I love this challenge. I believe it keeps me challenged as a photographer and it keeps life fresh and exciting.
I also have the honor and privilege of SEEing my subject. Really seeing them.
Of course I see their eyes, their faces their hair, and their outfits. But I also get to see SO much more. I catch glimpses of their hearts, their personalities. Their gifts and their spririt. And yes, their fears or insecurities. I’ve seen boldness and courage. I’ve seen tenderness and love. I’ve seen confidence and quirkiness. I’ve seen poise and grace. I’ve seen shyness and timidness. I’ve seen quiet strength.
When photographing families, in all honesty, I can tell if there is a strained relationship between a father and a son, or a mother and a daughter. I am not a prophet – I don’t “know” things. But I am trained to SEE and FEEL as I photograph people and families. And I can see when two people are totally comfortable around each other – or if there is some awkwardness or discomfort. It’s very revealing to photographer someone. It’s vulnerable. It’s hopefully honest and not too cheesy.. but yes, I see cheesy and superficial too.
It’s not like magic – sometimes people are just not that comfortable in front of a camera – and it shows. I certainly fall into that category. But in general, we photographers do get to see some things. I believe we MUST see things.
One of the reasons I LOVE photographing high school seniors is because I LOVE SEEING young people during one of the most important seasons in their lives. I love celebrating them during a time in life when the future is so unwritten and they are so full of hope and excitement. They are finding who they are – and who they hope to become. So I love being a part of this time in their lives. And I see something different in every Senior that I photograph. Every one of them is unique and has their own traits, qualities and strengths that I catch glimpses of. That I get to capture and celebrate.
I love this process. I LOVE what I see…
So I’ve decided to begin to share what I see with you, with my seniors.
It’s just a tiny little attempt on my part to encourage, to affirm and to continue to really SEE my subjects and to try as best I can to capture their heart and spirit as well as the outward appearance.
So this is for Kaleigh Campbell – this is what is I see…
So cool, Pati!
