My kids and I welcomed the New Year in a tiny town called Quinter, Kansas – population approximately 918 people according to Wikipedia. We were visiting our close friends the Ruckman family, Jeff and Jill Ruckman, Jonah and Sydney!
We had an AMAZING time! It was so much fun to see them and to visit a place so COMPLETELY different than Phoenix! Jeff and Jill are very happy newlyweds! You may remember the recent engagement shoot that I posted on my blog back in October:
Jeff and Jill Engagement Session
Well, Jill recently moved from Phoenix to Quinter in October, so for those of you who know and love Jill – I wanted to give you a little glimpse of her new home and town she lives in.
I do LOVE photographing towns and places I’ve had the opportunity to travel to…. Quinter is no exception. It’s a tiny town with a Main Street and a corner family market. It probably stretches about 1 square mile. Outside of that square mile you see endless flat farmland and scattered farms throughout. I thought it was beautiful!! I hope you enjoy some of the photos I’ve taken!
Let me know below in the comments section, which photo is your favorite? I’m curious.
Also – if you’ve been visiting my blog regulary, don’t forget to “like” my photography page on facebook! Here’s the link:

Happy New Year! I hope you are all doing well and had a WONDERFUL holiday season!
I actually took a few weeks off over the holidays. I really REALLY needed the break! Rest and relaxation can do a person a lot of good! It’s been wonderful for me!
I am working my way into the New Year gradually. I think I’m always a little late when it comes to New Years anyway… lol!
Monday I’m officially back in action.
I did have a chance to travel over New Year’s with my kids to a little town in Kansas called Quinter…. wow! I really am such a city girl. It was another world. And I loved it! We were visiting our close friends the Ruckman Family.
I’ll be posting some photos from Quinter tomorrow. But for now, Happy New Year!!

When exploring the Coliseum, I came across this.
Stopped me dead in my tracks!

So today I was going through some of my goals for 2011. I love setting goals – it’s something I have done for years and years. I love the focus that it gives me and of course – I do love the sense of accomplishment I feel when I reach those goals!
This past January – I decided to try something new. My friend and fellow photographer, Melissa Jill, suggested doing a 100 in 1001 goals list. Basically it’s making the attempt to do 101 goals in 1001 days.
I liked the concept, so I sat down and created my list. I actually blogged that list here: 1001 in 1001
The problem is that I have never followed up with any of the goals on my list that I have completed. So I wanted to play a little catch up this morning. I’m going to blog my progress. That way I stay motivated and on track. One BIG goal on that list was #21 – See the Coliseum in Rome. Well, I was able to do see it this past July. I spent a few weeks in Europe traveling with my good friend Jill. We were able to spend a few days in Rome and I finally SAW the Coliseum. I photographed this amazing site. So I get to check that off my list.

I am going to try to get back to editing more of my Europe photos. I was pretty busy getting ready for the school year kick of with High School Seniors.
But here’s one from our day trip to Arendul, England I’m a sucker for signs!
I like the picture with the railroad tracks. The tracks are a strong focal point and leads you right through the flat land and into the sky which can become a place of whatever you believe it to be. Nice perspective…Nice camera angle….Nice eye movement – the image leads you to the sky – sky is the limit – sky is heavan – it is empty…whatever you want it to be. That is a lot of thought … I know … my college degree is from RIT in fine art photography.
